Robbie’s Farm

Robert Bakewell has a smallholding at the main entrance of the school. Farmer Rae looks after our farm and all of the animals. We have six chickens, three ducks, two giant rabbits and two hamsters.

The free range eggs that the chickens and ducks lay are sold in the farm shop beside the main school gate.

For children suffering from depression, anxiety or simply having a tough day, animals and being on the farm can sometimes be the best medicine. Many children feel a sense of calm and peace when tending to the animals, reducing their stresses and providing a beneficial nurturing relationship. From a therapeutic perspective there is a sense of mindfulness when closely interacting with the animals.
