Alder

Welcome to the Alder class page

Welcome back to the Summer term. We hope you have had a fun and restful break and are ready for our new topic.

Our learning question for this half term is ‘What animal would you like to be?’

Through this question we will be focusing on what characteristics help us identify if an animal is a bird, fish, reptile, amphibian or a mammal. We will also be discussing different habitats and diets such as carnivore, herbivore and omnivore.

In art we will be focussing on the artist Steven Brown and his famous set of painting the McCoo’s based on the highland cows. In RE the focus will be why Easter has been celebrated by many Christians. In RSHE we will be looking at relationships and the British value focus of Individual liberty.

Mrs Barber teaches the class Mon - Weds, supported by Mrs Adams and Mrs Nicholls; and Mrs Duncan teaches Thurs-Fri, supported by Mrs Onions and Mrs Nicholls.

Ms Mistry supervises the outdoor learning area.

Our PE days are Monday and Friday, please ensure your child has their P.E. kit in school on these days.

At Robert Bakewell we firmly believe that reading is the key that opens doors for our children. Please ensure that you hear your child read daily and record this in their diary so that they can earn points towards our fabulous reading prizes.

Please keep an eye on our webpage as we will upload photographs on a regular basis, to showcase the wonderful learning that is going on in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to either speak to a member of our team or get in touch via our class email; alder@robertbakewellprimary.com
