During their first week back to school the children have taken part in a whole school study of Wassily Kandinksy's Composition 8.
The children thought carefully about the shapes, lines and colours used in the painting. They came up with some fantastic ideas about how colours can make us feel. They used their knowledge to draw and make their own shapes. The children created some amazing pieces of artwork inspired by Kandinsky.
The children have studied Kandinsky's background, learning about what life was like in the period he was alive, between 1866 and 1944. The children showed a fantastic understanding of the differences between this time and modern times. The children researched Russia, where Kandinsky was born and looked into their famous landmarks, such as St Basil's Cathedral.
