Our topic for this half term is 'Who were the Anglo-Saxon?' Year 4's topic map is attached for you to see what we've been busy planning!
Take one picture - our Kandinsky-inspired project.
We've been using Kandinsky's artwork 'Composition VIII' to inspire much of our learning during our first three days.
As a class, we decided that the artwork reminded us of a bizarre solar system made up of different shaped planets. We each chose a different 'planet' to use as our very own 'world' this week and spent time designing what it would look like before creating rules for planets such as 'Chocolate World' and 'Party planet'. We then used our creations to base our first piece of descriptive writing on. The children worked hard to use exciting vocabulary and phrases in their descriptions.
In addition to our writing, we've created 'jigsaw' replications of this famous painting and have designed our own versions using Kandinsky's abstract style. We then recreated our planned designs on the computers before sharing our work with each other and celebrating our range of finished products with a class assembly.
WELL DONE MAPLE CLASS!
You made a fantastic start to life in Year 4 as you worked on this project - keep up the hard work and super attitudes!
