New school year, New sports year!!

Thursday 7th September was our first event of the year. 10 year 6 girls and boys took part in the first athletics festival at Thorpe Acre Junior School. The children had lots of fun, met some new people and represented their school. They did themselves and the school proud by being awarded third place out of 7 schools.

Well done Amber, Georgia, Jack P, Alfie B-S, Ethan D, Keisha, Lea-Marie, Liam S and Harry H. Unfortunately Isabelle was poorly but we look forward to having you on the team next time.

Wish us luck for Thursday 14th when we will have the year 5 children competing!!

Cross Country at Prestwold and Harry's dad's knees!

This is what she was watching... the mixed 5/6 team winning the Area 7-a-side

In a long evening the team won two of the group stage matches and drew the other. Being joint top of the group they then had a penalty shoot out and won that. After a tight semi final with Mountfields, who were the toughest opposition with some very skilful players, it was penalty shoot out time again. Ten penalties each later and Zane shot the winning penalty in a match neither side deserved to lose.. The final was tense but goals from George and Baha sealed a two nil win. We shall play both teams we met in the semi and final after half term.

Equipment has arrived!!smiley

A great big thank you for all of you that donated Sainsbury's Active Kids vouchers.

Lets do it again in 2017!!

Three cheers for Robert Bakewell Primary School
We really appreciate you getting behind Active Kids 2016. Thanks to everyone who took part – you've helped create something amazing.
It's because of organisations like yours collecting vouchers, that Active Kids 2016 has been able to donate £11million worth of sports and cooking equipment for UK schools and kids' clubs. That's an average of £376 for every school and club that took part.

The day has finally come.

We are in the mixed football final!!smiley

Good luck to all of you.

Charnwood College 3.30pm-5.30pm on Tuesday.

Golf Tournament 29/09/16.

On Thursday evening in brilliant sunshine a team of intrepid golfers set out for the Loughborough version of the Ryder Cup. Nine star and the invisible man had a great evening playing golf. All improved as the evening wore on and it ended with pizza and certificates for a job well done. The invisible man was our best player with a score of 127. Thanks to all parents who helped get the team there.

On Sunday the first meet of the season took place. Louisa got us off to a great start, followed by good runs from DJ , Joe  and the year five squad.  Great to see the year 3's having their first go at school sports' most gruelling discipline. It was a great effort especially by the 5 boys and girls as they are now on the full course run. Brilliant weather, brilliant conditions for running and a brilliant start to the season. Thanks to all the parents who came along and supported Miss Kilby. With a bit more training we shall see our team positions shoot up the County Results Table.
