Well done to Harry who gained the most dojos in 3/4D this term through hard work and being a wonderful friend to others. It was very close as we have had lots of hard workers and acts of kindness this term. We will start fresh next term so I'm looking forward to seeing how many we can get as a class. 😃

Why not try some of these fun Roman activity sheets during half term?
Thank you to everybody who has come in to school for parents evening. It has been wonderful showing you all of the great work that we have been doing this term.
I have attached a document which shows you the letter formation of the cursive handwriting that we use at Robert Bakewell. It would be fantastic if the children practise their handwriting as we are really keen to improve this throughout the school. I have already noticed a big improvement this term, but if we can keep going with this as an on-going target that would be great. If anybody has any questions regarding this please let me know.
We will be continuing with our Roman topic after half term as the children are getting on very well with it and there is still a lot to cover. We have found out lots of interesting facts and have had lots of fun with it so far.
Other topics we will be covering in year 3/4 will be:
- There's no place like home
- Rocks, Stones and Bones
- How does your garden grow?
- Adventurers and Explorers.
In general the standard of homework has been good this term and is improving week by week. It is extremely important that the children complete their homework every week and that it is handed in on a Wednesday. I would like the children to make sure that the standard of their presentation is as good as their work in school and that it is completed using a pencil if possible. Although most children complete sentences for their spelling words each week a few have been forgetting this.
It has also come to my attention that a few children have not yet brought their school books home with them, all children have their own reading wallet and record sheet and should be reading as much as possible at home. This will help their school work, and will help the children become more confident readers. It is important for children to read a variety of texts too, so if you're out and about ask your child to read menus, instructions, signs, directions and papers.
I have also added a few links that might be fun to use over the half term break.
Have a wonderful week and I'll look forward to seeing you all on Monday the 26th!
