2M

Transport Day.

Today Year 2 have described and drawn observational drawings of their bikes and scooters. We have also carried out a traffic survey and counted the traffic passing the school for 20 minutes. We then used the information to make a table of results and a block graph.  We also had fun riding bikes and scooters and talked about keeping safe when doing so.

World Book Day 2019. We had great fun dressing up as our favourite book characters. We wrote character descriptions of our favourite characters, made bookmarks for us and our family to use and shared our favourite stories with each other and children from Year 6.
As part of our maths work on measuring this week, we made cookies which involved weighing out ingredients carefully and using the words we have studied in DT for preparing food to combine the ingredients accurately. They were delicious!!!

Hello and a massive HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope you have had a wonderful break over the Christmas holiday.

Thank you again for the Christmas play costumes. All the children looked fantastic and we really appreciated your support. They worked so hard on the 'Starlight' production and it definitely paid off :)

Just a little reminder of the following things-

- Please ensure the children are reading at home daily and getting their diaries signed. There are still prizes for those children who read at home regularly!

 - Reading books can be changed daily, the children just need to ask to do this.

- Homework- Choose 3 for the half term and colour when you have done them.

-P.E lessons continue to be on a Wednesday and a Thursday (please have an indoor and outdoor kit as we will  be outside as much as possible).

- Check the window for any messages.

- Ask me anything at the end of the day if you have a worry or concern.

-Please remember it's a very important year for us in year 2. We have SATs in May but we try to make sure that the children don't know. We ask that you don't book any holidays in term time.

This week we have launched our new topic which is SURVIVAL.

We have got great things planned for the children and are looking forward to an exciting term.

The time has come to say goodbye.

I have loved every minute of our time together in year 2.

Be good, work hard, believe you can and you will!!!

Thank you to each and every parent who has supported 2G and me personally.

I will miss you all but hope to see you soon and teach you all some yoga frown

Pom, pom, pom, pom!!!!!

Don't you just love making pom poms?? It's an important life skill.

Enjoy

Christmas Christingles-17.12.18

We learnt all about them, we drew them and we made our own.

Christians during advent celebrate with a christingle often made for a children's service.

The meaning of all of the parts

Orange-represents the world

Red ribbon-represents Jesus dying for us

Candle-represent Jesus the light of the world

4 sticks and fruits-represents the four seasons and the fruits of the world

The children loved learning about this during RE and making their own.

A Christmas experience-29.11.18

We all had a wonderful afternoon at All Saints Church in Thorpe Acre today.

What a way to start the season by finding out all about how Christians are celebrating Christmas.

What is new??

What is our new topic-Autumn 2

Who made these footprints in our room?-12.10.18

On Friday morning during playtime something went through the year 2 classrooms leaving footprints and evidence on the playground.

We thought it could be a wolf or a fox but clearly it got scared and ran away when we went back to the mobile.

We designed traps and we will be writing instructions next week to capture it.

We were so brave and excited.

Balancing fun in PE-11.10.18

We worked on point balances (small body parts like hands, feet, elbows and knees).

We then worked in pairs to link our balances together.

Shelter building with Mr Taylor-5.10.18

We loved having Mr Taylor in school to show us how to build shelters.

We worked in teams and tried to make our shelter big enough and waterproof.

We loved it and and had great fun!!

Welcome to Year 2 smiley

We are all looking forward to an exciting year together.

This half term we are learning and investigating all about shelters in our topic work.

Look at our curriculum map to see what else we will be learning about.

We can't wait to show you some photos of our learning.

Watch this space!!
